Yarker Lane Cottage

Yarker Lane Cottage is in Mickleton, near Barnard Castle in County Durham. It's a converted barn, so it's a bit bigger than your average cottage. Sleeps six, has three bedrooms and one bathroom.

It's got a 3 Star rating. That means it's comfortable and clean but it's not a fancy hotel. It does the job.

The pub is about ten minutes walk down the lane. They do good food. The nearest proper shop is in Mickleton village, about two miles away. You'll want to get a big shop in from Barnard Castle.

The cottage is detached and you get the garden to yourselves. It's enclosed, which is handy with dogs. We allow up to three pets. There's parking right by the door.

Inside, the walls are stone in places. The bedrooms have Velux windows in the roof, so you get a good view of the sky. It has all the things you'd expect: wifi, a washing machine, dishwasher. Bedding and towels are included.

You're right in the Upper Teesdale valley here. The views are good. It's a proper walking area. Barnard Castle is about seven miles. The National Trust has a few places nearby, like the nearby waterfall at High Force. The North Pennines AONB starts just up the road.

For a day out, you're about half an hour from Durham city, or you can drive up into the Durham Dales. The coast at Hartlepool or Seaham is about forty-five minutes if you fancy a change.
