Belle Vue House is in Eggleston. It's been our family place for a long time, and we've just finished updating it.
It sleeps six. Three bedrooms, and two bathrooms which is handy. One of the bedrooms has its own shower. The kitchen is new, with a dining area. The lounge looks out over the garden. There's a conservatory too, so you can sit out there when it's a bit fresh.
The garden is enclosed, so it's safe for kids or a dog. We allow one pet. The stairs are normal for a house this age.
In the village, there's a gourmet cafe in the grounds of Eggleston Hall, and two pubs that do decent food. It's a good walking area, right on the edge of the North Pennines.
Barnard Castle is about ten minutes by car. The Bowes Museum is there, it's an unusual place. High Force, the waterfall, is about four miles away. Hamsterley Forest is close for walking or cycling.
Durham city is within half an hour. It's got the cathedral and good shops. For the coast, Saltburn-by-the-Sea is about an hour's drive.
Facilities wise: there's parking, a washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, and a TV. Bedding and towels are included. We can provide a cot and highchair.
