Glen Cottage is in Mickleton, County Durham. It's a stone cottage at the end of a terrace. It's recently been done up.
It sleeps six in three bedrooms. There are two bathrooms, one is an en-suite. The third bedroom is in a linked barn across a little porch. That barn room has twin beds and its own bathroom. It's fine for older kids or another couple, but it's separate from the main cottage bedrooms, so maybe not for very young children on their own.
The views from there, and from the cottage really, are out over the Tees valley and fields. It's properly rural.
You're right in the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The Pennine Way is just off the village. High Force, the big waterfall, is close by. It's about a 20 minute drive to Barnard Castle for the Bowes Museum or the market. Raby Castle is about the same.
In the village there's a good restaurant and a pub that does bar meals. There's a decent supermarket in Middleton-in-Teesdale, two miles away.
The cottage has a garden that's enclosed. Parking for two cars. It comes with wifi, TV, a washing machine, dishwasher, and all the bedding and towels.
For planning, the North Pennines AONB site is useful, and so is the Yorkshire Dales National Park site as you can get there in under an hour.
