Glen Cottage

This is Glen Cottage, in Mickleton. It's a stone cottage, end of a terrace. It's in Upper Teesdale, right in the North Pennines AONB. The views from here are good, over the fields and the valley.

It sleeps six in three bedrooms. There are two bathrooms, one is an en-suite to the master. The cottage itself has two bedrooms, and there's a linked barn with a twin room and its own bathroom. That barn is connected by a porch. It's fine for older kids, but it's a separate space, so you'd want to think about it for younger ones.

It's been done up recently, so it's in good order. It's a 4 Star place. You've got a living room, dining area, and a kitchen that has what you need. The facilities list covers most things: parking, WiFi, a washing machine, dishwasher, that sort of thing. Bedding and towels are included.

In the village there's a pub that does food and a well-regarded restaurant. Middleton-in-Teesdale is two miles away for a supermarket.

For walking, you're right by the Pennine Way. High Force waterfall is close by. It's England's tallest single drop waterfall, it's about a 20-minute walk from the nearest car park. Low Force and the Wynch Bridge are lovely too. Raby Castle is about 20 minutes' drive. Barnard Castle is 15 minutes away, it's a nice market town with the Bowes Museum. The Yorkshire Dales National Park is within 40 minutes, and Durham city about the same.

Useful links: North Pennines AONB, National Trust at High Force, and Yorkshire Dales National Park.

No pets, I'm afraid.
