This is Belle Vue, in Eggleston. It's a one-bedroom cottage that sleeps two people. We've had it in the family for a long time, and we did it up a few years ago.
It's got a three star rating. That means it's comfortable and clean, but not luxurious. The kitchen is a good size and has proper appliances. The living room looks out over the garden, which is enclosed. There's a conservatory too, which gets the sun.
The bathroom has a shower over the bath. The stairs are normal house stairs, not too steep. You can bring one well-behaved dog.
Eggleston is a small village. There are two pubs within walking distance that do food. There's also a café in the grounds of Eggleston Hall, with gardens and an old church ruin. The North Pennines are right on the doorstep for walking. It's very quiet here.
Barnard Castle is the nearest proper town, about four miles away. The Bowes Museum is there, it's a strange and interesting place. High Force, which is the tallest waterfall in England, is about a twenty minute drive. Hamsterley Forest is good for a walk or for mountain biking.
If you want to go further, Durham City is about half an hour by car. It's got the cathedral and nice streets. The coast at Saltburn is just over an hour away. Newcastle is also within an hour's drive.
Everything is included: bedding, towels, wifi, and parking. There's a washing machine. The garden is yours to use.
