The Dovecote is a converted barn in Romaldkirk. It's detached, but it's next to our house. You won't see us unless you need to. It's for two people.
It's a 4 Star place. That means it's comfortable and everything works. The bed's a good size. The shower is fine.
The village is quiet. There's a pub about five minutes' walk away. It's the only one here and it's very good. They do food.
If you like walking, you can start right from the door. There are plenty of footpaths. You can walk along the river to Cotherstone, or towards the Grassholme reservoir. For something bigger, you can drive to the Bowlees Visitor Centre and walk from there to Low Force and High Force waterfalls. It's about a 15 minute drive.
Barnard Castle is six miles away. That's where you'll find most of the shops and a few places to eat. The Bowes Museum is there. Raby Castle is about 12 miles. Durham is further, maybe 45 minutes by car.
The cottage has its own small garden with a patio. It's enclosed. There's parking right outside. It has a washing machine, TV, and WiFi. All the bedding and towels are provided.
