The Granary is in West Layton, North Yorkshire. It's a converted barn next to our house, but it's completely private.
It's for two people. One bedroom with an en-suite bathroom, and a five star rating. That basically means it's been done to a high standard. Underfloor heating, good bedding, a big TV, that sort of thing.
Upstairs is one open room with a kitchen, dining area, and sitting area. The ceiling is high and there's a big arched window looking out over the fields. Electric blinds come down over it at night.
Outside is an enclosed patio. There's a table, a firepit, and a hot tub for two.
We're about seven miles from Richmond one way and Barnard Castle the other. Both are market towns worth a visit. Richmond has the castle and a waterfall walk in the river. Barnard Castle has the Bowes Museum. There's a decent pub a couple of miles away, and a good farm shop.
You're on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales. It's about a 30 minute drive to get right into them for walking. For planning days out, the Yorkshire Dales National Park site is useful, as is English Heritage for Richmond Castle.
Facilities: parking right outside, washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, bedding and towels included. No pets.
