Mayfields Retreat
Mayfields Retreat is a log cabin in Newsham, North Yorkshire. It's on our land, but it's private and detached. It's for two people, one bedroom and one bathroom. It's got a 5 Star rating, which means it's well-finished.
The main thing is it's quiet. You're in the grounds but it's very separate. There's a wood burner in the living area and a walk-in shower with a rain head. The hot tub is under cover on the deck so you can use it even if it's raining.
We provide bedding, towels, robes and slippers. There's a welcome pack when you arrive. The kitchen has a dishwasher and a washing machine. You can park right outside.
One well-behaved dog is welcome. The garden is enclosed but it's not huge, just a patio area really.
The village pub is about a fifteen minute walk. They do good food. The nearest shop is in Richmond, about three miles. There's a nice tearoom in Barningham, the next village along.
For walks, you can start from the door. There are footpaths through the village and out into the Dales. Richmond is seven miles away. It's a proper market town with a castle, shops, and a Georgian theatre. Barnard Castle is about the same distance, with the Bowes Museum.
If you want to explore, the North York Moors and the Yorkshire Dales are both within about half an hour's drive. For local history, National Trust North York Moors has details on places like Moulton Hall. The Yorkshire Dales National Park site is good for walking routes.
That's about it. It's a comfortable place to come back to after being out.
