Sykelands Cottage
Sykelands Cottage is in West Layton. It's a barn conversion for two people, all on one level.
It's got one bedroom with a super king size bed and an en-suite bathroom. The main living space has a high ceiling with the old A-frames still there. There's an open plan kitchen and living area.
The cottage is rated 5 Star. That means it's finished to a high standard and everything's new. It has biomass underfloor heating, so it's always warm underfoot.
Outside, there's a garden with a patio. The main view is over fields and countryside. The owners have chickens and ducks that sometimes wander over. You can park right outside.
The location is quiet. You're about seven miles from both Richmond and Barnard Castle. Richmond has a castle, a market, and some good tea shops. Barnard Castle has the Bowes Museum and a weekly farmers' market.
There's a local pub about two miles away that does food. A farm shop is also nearby.
For a day out, Durham is about half an hour's drive. The university is there if you're visiting someone. The Yorkshire Dales are also about 30 minutes away for walking.
