Helwith Cottage

Helwith Cottage is in Washfold, which is a hamlet near Barningham in North Yorkshire. It's a detached stone cottage, so you're on your own up there.

The cottage sleeps four. Two bedrooms, both with their own bathroom. It's got a 5 Star rating, which means it's very well done up and comfortable. Everything you'd expect from a place with that rating is here.

The views are what it's about. You look out over the moors. There's a beck at the bottom of the valley and a little bridge you might recognise from the 'All Creatures Great and Small' TV titles.

It's remote. The nearest proper shop or pub is in Barningham village, about six miles away by car. They do food and you can pre-order meals from them for your stay. Marske is the nearest village, about five miles.

For days out, Richmond is about ten miles and has a castle and a market square. Barnard Castle is about six miles, which has the Bowes Museum. There's a lot of history around here if that's your thing, including some ancient stones up on Barningham Moor.

The area is all about walking and being outside. You're right on the edge of the moors. The estate has its own grouse moors and farmland around you.

Facilities: it's got a woodburning stove, a dishwasher, washing machine, WiFi, TV, and parking. There's a garden with a patio. We can provide a cot and highchair. You can bring up to two dogs.
