Abraham's Cottage is on the village green in Langthwaite. It’s a stone semi-detached place. Looks out over the green and the fields behind.
It sleeps four. Two bedrooms, both with their own bathroom and a decent shower. It’s a 5 Star place, which means it's been done up to a high standard. They’ve kept the oak floors and wood-panelled ceilings. There’s a wood burner in the living room. The kitchen has a slate floor. You can eat in the dining room or outside in the courtyard.
There are two pubs you can walk to. One is about 500 yards away. The shop is in Reeth, three miles down the road.
For walking, you’ve got the whole of Arkengarthdale on the doorstep. The River Arkle is good for a gentle stroll. If you want something higher, the fells are right there. Cyclists use the area a lot; the Dales Bike Centre is nearby for hires. The Swale Trail from Reeth to Keld is popular for families.
Reeth is three miles away. It has cafes, a shop, and an ice cream place. Richmond and its castle are about half an hour's drive. Barnard Castle is roughly the same in the other direction, the Bowes Museum is there. If you head into Wensleydale, Hawes and Leyburn are market towns. The Forbidden Corner is 16 miles off, near Middleham. You pass Aysgarth Falls and Bolton Castle on the way.
A quick note: the stairs are steep. They’re original cottage stairs.
Facilities: there’s a wood burner, a dishwasher, a washing machine, WiFi, and TV. Bedding and towels are included. There’s a private, enclosed patio with a BBQ. No pets, sorry.
