5 Swallowholm Cottages
This is 5 Swallowholm Cottages in Langthwaite. It's a small stone miner's cottage, one of a handful in a hamlet up Arkengarthdale. The views are good, just fields and hills.
It sleeps four. Two bedrooms upstairs, one bathroom downstairs. It's a 4 Star place so it's comfortable and has what you need. Being an old cottage, the ceilings are low in places and the doorways aren't tall. The stairs are narrow and turn a corner.
There's a proper woodburning stove for cooler evenings. It's got a dishwasher and a washing machine. All the bedding and towels are included. You can bring up to two dogs.
You can walk straight from the door. The Yorkshire Dales National Park site has walking routes. The local pub, The Red Lion, is about a fifteen minute walk away. They do food and local ales.
Reeth is about three miles down the dale. It's got a couple of shops, a bakery, and a few pubs and cafes. Richmond is about eight miles. It's a proper market town with a castle, a theatre, and a big square. You can find all the shops there.
For a day out, Barnard Castle is about half an hour's drive over the Stang forest. It's a nice drive if you don't mind narrow roads. The Bowes Museum is there. The Lake District or York are both just over an hour away if you fancy going further.
Parking is on site. We leave a highchair and a travel cot in the cottage if you need them.
