5 Swallowholm Cottages

5 Swallowholm Cottages is in Langthwaite, which is up in Arkengarthdale. It's a small old miner's cottage, one of a row. It's Grade II listed, which mostly means the walls are thick and the windowsills are deep.

It sleeps four people. Two bedrooms, one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's comfortable and clean. It's not fancy, it's homely. You get the basics: TV, WiFi, a washing machine, a dishwasher. There's a woodburning stove which is nice in the evening.

The front door opens straight onto the quiet road. There's parking for one car directly outside. The back door opens to a small flagged yard. It's not a garden, but it's a spot to sit out. The views from the front, across the dale, are really what it's about.

There's an 18th century pub about a five minute walk away. They do real ale and food. For a shop, you'd need to drive to Reeth, which is about four miles. Reeth has a couple of pubs, a cafe or two, and a village store.

For walking, you can just step out the door. The dales are right there. For a drive, Richmond is about twenty minutes. It has a castle, a theatre, and the usual market town things. Barnard Castle is a bit further, maybe forty minutes over the Stang road.

Facilities wise: all bedding and towels are included. There's a cot and a highchair if you need them. You can bring up to two dogs.
