It's called Enginemans Cottage, in Howden le Wear. That's in County Durham, in the North East. It's not remote, you're in a village, but it feels quiet. The cottage is on three floors.
It sleeps six. Three bedrooms and one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating, which really just means it's comfortable and everything works. The stairs are standard for a cottage. Not a problem, but mind your head on the way up to the top floor bedroom.
There's a wood burner in the living room. It heats the place up well. The kitchen is a decent size, and there's a dishwasher and a washing machine. The garden at the back is enclosed, which is good if you've got a dog or kids. There's a BBQ out there too.
You can bring one dog. Bedding and towels are included. There's parking for one car on the drive.
Locally, there's a pub within walking distance. For bigger shops, you'd drive to Bishop Auckland. It's about a ten minute drive. If you're interested, Auckland Castle is there. The Weardale Way runs nearby if you like walking. For a proper forest day out, Hamsterley Forest is about a twenty minute drive. It's good for bikes and walks.
The wider area is good for getting out. The North Pennines are close. It's an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. You can be up on the moors or by a waterfall pretty quickly. Durham city itself is about half an hour away by car, which is easy for a day out.
