High Bank Farm

High Bank Farm is up near High Lands in County Durham. It's a detached farmhouse, so you're on your own out here. The place sits in its own grounds, with fields all around.

It sleeps six. Three bedrooms, two bathrooms. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's comfortable and well kept. The garden is enclosed, which is good if you've got dogs or kids. There's a patio that faces south, so you get the sun.

Just to mention, there's an unfenced pond in the paddock beyond the garden. Local birds use it. You'd need to keep an eye on kids there, and dogs should be on a lead if they're outside the main garden fence.

Inside, there's a wood burning stove, a dishwasher, washing machine, WiFi, and parking. Bedding and towels are included. We can take up to two dogs.

The nearest pub is about two miles away, in Butterknowle. You can walk it. There's a decent chip shop in Cockfield village too.

For things to do, it's good walking and cycling country right from the door. Barnard Castle is about eight or nine miles away. It's a nice market town with a castle, the Bowes Museum, and riverside walks. Bishop Auckland has the Kynren show in the summer. Raby Castle with the deer park is a short drive.

Hamsterley Forest is great for a family day out. Lots of trails, including the Gruffalo one for kids.

Durham city is about half an hour's drive if you want a day out. The cathedral and castle are the big draws, but there are shops and events throughout the year.
