Siabod is our place in Llanddoged, just outside Llanrwst. It's a barn we converted, so it's got the beams and a big fireplace. It sleeps eight, but in three bedrooms, so it's two doubles and a bunk room that takes four. There are two bathrooms as well, one is a wet room on the ground floor.
It's got a 5 Star rating, which basically means it's been done to a high standard and is well equipped. It's warm and clean. The view from the back is the best bit. You look straight across the Conwy Valley to the Carneddau mountains. It's quite something with a morning coffee.
Llanddoged is quiet. There's a local pub a short walk away. For shopping, Llanrwst is about a mile and a half. It's a proper market town with a weekly livestock market. Betws-y-Coed is ten minutes up the road if you need outdoor shops or more cafés.
You're right on the edge of Snowdonia here. For walking, you can start from the door or drive a short way into the park. The National Trust looks after a lot of the land around here. Bodnant Garden is about twenty minutes away and is worth the trip if you like gardens.
Conwy and its castle are about twenty minutes by car. Llandudno is maybe twenty-five minutes. If you want to go a bit further, the Llanberis Mountain Railway or Caernarfon Castle are within half an hour. There's also Surf Snowdonia, the artificial wave place, in the valley.
Practical stuff: it's all on one level except for two steps into the lounge. There's parking right outside. The garden is patioed, with a table and chairs. We take one well-behaved dog. All the bedding and towels are included, and there's a washing machine, dishwasher, wifi, and TV. We've got a cot and highchair if you need them.
For planning days out, the Snowdonia National Park and Visit Wales sites are useful.
