Abbey End

Abbey End is in Maenan. It's a few minutes off the A470 in a little cul-de-sac. It's an old coach house from the 1850s. We've done it up.

It sleeps eight. Four bedrooms and two bathrooms. There's a woodburning stove which works well, and a garden that runs down to a small stream.

The stairs inside are quite steep, like in a lot of these old places. The garden is enclosed but it's not totally flat. There's parking for two, maybe three cars if you're careful.

The Maenan Abbey Hotel is a couple of minutes walk away. They do food. The nearest shop is in Llanrwst, about a mile and a half down the road.

The location is simple really. You're halfway between Conwy and Betws-y-Coed, so about 10 minutes to either. Conwy is the castle town for the coast. Betws is for the mountains and rivers.

Llandudno is 20 minutes away. You've got the pier, the tram, that sort of thing. The beaches at Rhos-on-Sea are sandy. The Welsh Mountain Zoo is just outside Colwyn Bay.

If you want to walk, you can start from right over the road. A path goes up Cadair Ifan Goch. The view from the top is very good. The Conwy Valley itself is good for flat walks along the river too.

For a day out further south, you can get into Snowdonia easily. Visit Wales has a good overview. The National Trust looks after Bodnant Garden and a few other places nearby.

The facilities: WiFi, TV, washing machine, dishwasher. Bedding and towels are included. You can bring up to two dogs.
