Ty Newydd Cottage
Ty Newydd Cottage is in Salem, near Llandeilo. It's attached to our house, but you've got your own entrance and garden. It's very quiet here, just fields and trees.
It's for two people. One bedroom, one bathroom. Everything's on the ground floor, so no stairs. It's a 3 Star place, which is right: it's clean, comfortable, and straightforward. We allow up to two dogs.
The garden is enclosed. There's a patio with a table and a barbecue. Parking is next to the cottage.
Inside, it's open plan. There's a kitchen area, a sofa, and a TV. There's a washing machine. Wi-Fi is included. The bed is made up for you when you arrive, towels too.
Llandeilo is about three miles away. It's a good little town with interesting shops. Plenty of places to eat, from cafes to pubs. The National Trust's Dinefwr Park is just outside the town. You can walk up to the castle ruins and see the deer.
You're close to the Brecon Beacons here. Good walking country. The Brechfa Forest is a short drive away if you're into mountain biking. Carreg Cennen castle is about a fifteen minute drive. It's very dramatic, up on a cliff.
In under half an hour you can be in Carmarthen or Llandovery for bigger shops. The coast, like Pembrey, is about forty minutes by car if you fancy a beach day. For planning, the Visit Wales site is useful, and the National Trust in Wales page for their properties.
We've also got another cottage next door, Swallows Nest, that sleeps four. You can book both together if you're coming as a group.
