The Berm is near Capel Isaac, on a hillside just outside of Llandeilo. It's a one-bedroom place for two people. The owner built it, so it's a bit unusual. It's set into the hill, with grass on the roof.
Inside, it's all open plan. The living area, kitchen and dining space are together, with big windows looking straight out into the garden. The bedroom is at the back, with a roll-top bath in the room. There's an en-suite shower room too. It feels private.
Outside is probably the main thing. There's a big deck with a log-fired sauna and a small, natural plunge pool. The pool is filtered by plants, not chemicals. There's also a firepit. It's very quiet out there at night.
It's an eco-build. The grass roof helps keep it warm, and some of the electric comes from a hydro plant on the stream. There's a wood burner inside for cooler days, and an electric car charger.
The local pub is about three miles away in Llanfynydd. Llandeilo is closer, maybe ten minutes by car. It's a nice town with good cafes and shops. For a bigger day out, the National Trust in Wales has lots of historic houses and coast. The Brecon Beacons National Park is about half an hour's drive for walking. The coast, like Tenby, is about an hour.
Facilities: it's got a washing machine, dishwasher, wifi and parking. Everything is on one level and there's step-free access from the parking area. It's pet friendly for one dog. Bedding and towels are included.
If you're a bigger group, you can also rent the cottage next door, Pistyll Bach.
