The Berm

The Berm is in Capel Isaac, Carmarthenshire. It's a one bedroom place for two people. It's got a 5 Star rating, which is down to the finish and the facilities. It's built into a hillside, and the roof is grass. The idea was to blend it into the land.

Everything's on one level. You come into the open plan kitchen and living area. There's a wood burner. The bedroom is at the back, with a roll top bath in the room and an en-suite shower. The whole glass side faces south over the garden, so it gets the sun. The heating is from electric radiators and the wood burner. Some of the electricity comes from a hydro plant on site.

The garden is the main thing. There's decking, a firepit, and a log-fired sauna with a view down the river valley. There's also a small, natural plunge pool that's fed by a spring and filtered by plants. It's cold. It's very private and quiet.

It's rural. The nearest pub or restaurant is about three miles away, in Llandeilo. Llandeilo is a nice little market town with shops and places to eat. The National Botanic Garden of Wales is close by and worth a visit. The Brecon Beacons National Park is within half an hour for walking. The coast, like Tenby, is about an hour's drive.

Facilities: it has a dishwasher, washing machine, WiFi, and bedding and towels are included. There's parking and an electric vehicle charger. You can bring one dog. The property is wheelchair accessible at the entrance, but the garden has steps. It can be booked with another cottage nearby if you're a bigger group.
