Wheelwright Barn
Wheelwright Barn is in Pant yr Athro, Carmarthenshire. It's a converted barn right on the banks of the River Towy. The views are across the river towards Llansteffan and the bay. They're very open.
It sleeps eight people. Four bedrooms, each with its own bathroom. It's got a 5 Star rating. It's a high standard, comfortable place. The stairs are original, so they're a bit steep and uneven in parts. That's just how it is.
The main living space is open plan, split over two levels. It's got a high vaulted ceiling with old beams and some of the original machinery still up there. The kitchen has a slate floor and an old salting slab. There's a wood burning stove.
Outside, there's a private swimming pool and a hot tub on the patio. The hot tub looks out over the river.
The Wales Coast Path runs right next to the property. You can walk down to Ferryside village in about twenty minutes. It's a seaside place. There's a pub, a fish and chip shop, a small shop, and a beach. The beach is good for sandcastles and rock pools.
Kidwelly Castle is a few miles away. It's a Norman castle, well preserved. Worth a visit if you like that sort of thing. Kidwelly Castle.
Further along the coast, about a twenty minute drive, is Pembrey Country Park. It's a big park with woods, a long sandy beach, and some activities like a toboggan run.
Facilities: all bedding and towels are included. There's a washing machine, dishwasher, cot, highchair, and stairgate. Parking for cars on site. No pets, sorry.
