The Smithy

The Smithy is in Llanllwch, which is between Carmarthen and St Clears. It's one of three converted barns next to our farmhouse. The other two are bigger, for families. This one is just for two people.

It's a single storey cottage, so everything is on the ground floor. One bedroom with a double bed. The bathroom is ensuite. It's got a 4 Star rating, which means it's nice and well looked after, but it's still a barn conversion so expect flagstone floors and thick walls.

Outside, there's a private patio with a table and chairs. It looks out over the fields where we farm. You'll see red kites and buzzards most days. You can park right outside.

Inside, it's one open-plan room for the kitchen, dining and sitting area. It's got underfloor heating. There's a TV, a dishwasher, and a washing machine. All bedding and towels are included. We can provide a cot and highchair if needed.

You're welcome to bring up to two dogs. The garden is secure, but they must be kept on a lead outside the patio area because of the livestock.

The local shop is a five-minute walk. The nearest pub is about a mile away in Llanddowror, it does good food. For a bigger shop, Carmarthen is a ten-minute drive. Laugharne, where Dylan Thomas lived, is about 20 minutes away. It's got a castle and some nice pubs by the water.

The coast is about half an hour's drive. Tenby and Saundersfoot are that way, with proper sandy beaches. Inland, you've got the National Botanic Garden of Wales and the Preseli Hills for walking. There are several castles nearby, like Carreg Cennen and Kidwelly.
