Leopold

Leopold is a barn conversion on a farm, near the hamlet of Woolland. It’s out in the countryside, so you’ll need a car.

It’s part of a bigger Victorian barn that’s been split into a few cottages. You get the west wing to yourself. It sleeps eight. There are four bedrooms and they all have their own ensuite shower room. That’s good if you’ve got a few families together.

Inside, it’s spacious. The kitchen and dining area is big enough for everyone to gather. There’s a separate living room with a TV. The stairs are fine, but they’re wooden and a bit steep, so just be careful.

You’ve got your own patio with a hot tub. It’s private. There are also shared facilities on the estate: an indoor heated swimming pool, a sauna, a games room, and some fishing lakes. The whole place is on a working farm.

It’s got a 4 Star rating, so it’s well equipped and clean. Bedding and towels are included. There’s a cot if you need one, and parking. It’s got an electric vehicle charger.

For things to do, you’re right in the Blackmore Vale, so plenty of walks. Shaftesbury is about a 15 minute drive. Blandford Forum is about 20 minutes. The Jurassic Coast is within half an hour’s drive. You can be at Weymouth or the Lulworth Cove area in that time. Sherborne, with its abbey and castles, is also about 30 minutes away.
