Armswell House is an old farmhouse near Mappowder, about five miles from Dorchester. It's a big place that sleeps a lot of people, really meant for family get-togethers or a big group of friends.
It's on our working dairy farm, so it's quiet but not isolated. You'll see and hear the farm going on around you. There are good walks straight from the door onto the farm tracks and into the countryside. The Dorset Gap is close by for more walking.
The house has seven bedrooms and six bathrooms, so there's plenty of space. It sleeps fourteen in beds, and a few more can use sofa beds if needed. It's a 4 Star place, which means it's comfortable and well-equipped, but it's an old building. The ceilings are high and the stairs are typical for a house this age. Some of the doors are low. You get used to it.
Downstairs, there are two living rooms, both with open fires. The kitchen is large, with a big table and French doors out to the garden. There's a games room in the cellar with a pool table.
Outside is a walled garden with a lawn, flower beds, and a barbecue. It's private and secure.
The village of Plush is a mile away and has a good pub. For shops, you'll need to drive to Dorchester or Blandford Forum, which are about twenty minutes. The coast, places like Weymouth or Lulworth, is about forty minutes by car. English Heritage and National Trust sites like Maiden Castle or Corfe Castle are within easy reach for a day out.
It has all the things you'd expect: WiFi, TVs, a washing machine, dishwasher, and parking for several cars. You can bring up to two dogs. Bedding and towels are included, and we provide a cot and highchair if you need them.
