Churchill Cottage

Churchill Cottage is on a working farm near Sandhills in Dorset. It's part of a set of three holiday homes, but you've got your own garden and it's detached from the main farmhouse. The farm is about 300 acres, mostly sheep and some beef cattle.

It sleeps six. There are two bedrooms and two bathrooms, which is handy. It's got a 4 Star rating. Everything's clean and it's been recently done up, but it's not a show home. It's comfortable.

You're on a farm, so there are tractors about sometimes during the day. It's quiet at night. There's a fishing lake about a hundred yards from the cottage. It's coarse fishing. The tackle isn't provided.

There's a shared games room in an outbuilding with a pool table. You've also got your own wood burner in the cottage. The WiFi works, but it's a farm, so it can be a bit slow if everyone's online at once.

The nearest pub and shop are in Cerne Abbas, about three miles away. It's a proper village with a few places to eat. The famous Cerne Abbas Giant is on the hill there. Sherborne's about five miles north. It's a nice town with an abbey, a castle, and some good shops. Sherborne Castle is National Trust.

If you want a day out, the coast at Weymouth or Lyme Regis is about 40 minutes' drive. That's the Jurassic Coast. Inland, Stourhead is about half an hour away. For something different, the Fleet Air Arm Museum at Yeovilton is about 25 minutes.

Facilities: parking for two cars right outside. Washing machine. TV. Cot and highchair if you need them. Bedding and towels are included. You can bring up to two dogs. The garden is enclosed, but check the fences if your dog's a runner.
