This is Croft Cottage in Lydlinch. It's a detached stone cottage, so no neighbours through the walls. You'll have the garden and parking to yourselves.
It sleeps six but there are only two bedrooms. One downstairs with a double bed and its own bathroom. Upstairs is the main bedroom with an en-suite, and it leads through to a small room with two single sofa beds. Fine for kids. The stairs are cottage stairs, so a bit steep.
It's got a 3 Star rating. That means it's clean and comfortable, but not luxurious. You get a dishwasher, washing machine, WiFi, and a TV. There's an enclosed garden with a BBQ. We allow one well-behaved dog.
You're in a small village. The nearest pub that does food is about two miles away. The shop is in Sturminster Newton, three miles. It's quiet here. There's a butterfly conservation area next to the village.
For days out, Sherborne with its abbey is about a 20-minute drive. Shaftesbury and Gold Hill are maybe 25 minutes. For a big day out with kids, Bovington Tank Museum and Monkey World are both within half an hour. Walking up Hambledon Hill is about 15 minutes by car, good views.
Further afield, within about 45 minutes, you've got Longleat, Stourhead, the coast at Weymouth, and Dorchester.
