Jolliffe

Jolliffe is at Bailey Ridge Farm near Totnell. It's one of three cottages here on our farm. We've got a beef herd, some sheep, and chickens around.

The cottage sleeps four. It's two bedrooms and one bathroom. It's got a 5 star rating, which means it's well-equipped and in good order. The other two cottages, Wriggle View and Cowleaze, are set up differently, so if you're coming with a bigger group you can book them together.

The layout is straightforward, not an upside-down one like Wriggle View. There's an open plan living area. It's comfy.

Outside, there's a private patio area with a BBQ and you can look out over the farm. The kids usually like seeing the animals. We've put in a stairgate and there's a cot and highchair if you need them.

You're in the Blackmore Vale here, so it's quiet. Good for walks and seeing wildlife. The nearest shop and pub are in the village, about a mile and a half away.

For days out, Sherborne is close, about five miles. It's a nice market town with a castle and an abbey. Dorchester is about ten miles away if you need more shops or want to see the museum there.

You're well placed for the coast. The Jurassic Coast is within a half hour drive. Weymouth and its beach are about that far. Inland, places like the Tank Museum at Bovington or Monkey World are easy to get to.

As for facilities: there's parking right outside, WiFi, a TV, a washing machine and a dishwasher. Bedding and towels are included. No pets, I'm afraid.

If you're planning trips, the National Trust for Dorset site has good information.
