The Lodge

The Lodge is in Cheselbourne, which is a small village near Dorchester. It's detached, so no neighbours through the walls. You've got your own driveway and the garden is private.

It's been done up recently. Sleeps three, in two bedrooms. One double, one single. One bathroom with a shower over the bath. The main living space is all open plan, kitchen and sitting area together. There are French doors out to the garden. It's got a smart TV, a dishwasher, a washing machine, and a coffee machine. Bedding and towels are included.

The garden is a proper feature. It's big and quite pretty. There's a private stream at the back. You can paddle in it if you like, but it's cold. The hot tub fits six and it's tucked around the side, so it's secluded.

Take the driveway slowly when you arrive. You'll pass the field with alpacas in it. They usually come over to say hello, which the kids like. Please don't go into the field.

For walks, you can start from the door or drive out. The Jurassic Coast is about 20 minutes away by car. That's where Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door are. Weymouth beach is about 16 miles. Dorchester is the nearest proper town, about nine miles. It's got shops, markets, and some history. There's a golf course locally and you can go horse riding nearby too.

No pets, I'm afraid.

If you're planning trips, the National Trust for Dorset site is useful. So is the Dorset Council Countryside page for walking.
