North Barn is in Affpuddle, about ten miles from Dorchester. It's a big converted barn, stone and thatch, detached in a field. You'll need a car to stay here.
It sleeps eight, in five bedrooms. There are two bathrooms, so one upstairs, one downstairs. It's got a 4 Star rating, meaning it's well done and comfortable. You can bring two dogs. The garden is enclosed.
The main thing is the space. The living room is big, with a wood burner, and doors straight out to the garden. The kitchen has an Aga. The stairs are a spiral staircase, which is fine but just take your time with it.
There's a footpath from the house across the fields to Tolpuddle village, which is nice for a walk. The local pub is about a mile and a half away.
You're well placed to get around Dorset from here. The coast is about a half hour drive. We like Lulworth Cove and the walk over to Durdle Door. Poole Harbour is about 40 minutes away, where you can get a ferry to Brownsea Island. For a day out, the Tolpuddle Martyrs Museum is close by, and Thomas Hardy's Cottage at Hardys Cottage isn't far either. Monkey World and the Tank Museum at Bovington are both about twenty minutes by car.
What's here: parking for a few cars, the Aga, the wood burner, wifi, a TV, a washing machine and dishwasher. Bedding and towels are included. There's a cot and a highchair if you need them.
