Swallows Nest is our place in Wool. It's a converted barn, detached, so you're not sharing walls with anyone. It's down a quiet lane that ends in fields, so the only traffic is people going to the houses.
It sleeps four. Two bedrooms, both with their own bathrooms. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's comfortable and well looked after. Everything is on one level, which a lot of people find useful.
The main room is open plan with high ceilings. There's a wood burner for colder nights and an air con unit that also heats. The water system uses rainwater and there's solar power, which is just how the place was set up.
There are two patio areas, one at the front and one at the back, so you can follow the sun. There's a covered bit outside with a table tennis table. And as the name suggests, swallows nest here in the summer. You'll hear them and see them flying around.
The village of Wool is about a fifteen minute walk. It's got a shop, a bakery, and a butcher. The nearest pub is about five minutes away by car.
You're well placed for the coast. Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door are about a twenty minute drive. The Jurassic Coast is all along there. Weymouth is about twenty minutes east, Swanage about twenty five minutes south.
If you need a rainy day plan, the Tank Museum at Bovington is very close. Monkey World is about half an hour away. Dorchester and Wareham are both easy to get to for a bit of shopping.
For walking, you can go straight out from the lane. The area is good for cycling and riding too. There's fishing on the River Frome.
Facilities: parking right outside. Washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi. All bedding and towels are included. Sorry, no pets.
