Tranquillity Cottage Winfrith Newburgh

Tranquillity Cottage is in Winfrith Newburgh. It's a thatched cottage, one of a small row. Built in the 17th century, it's Grade II listed. The garden is a good size and backs onto fields.

It sleeps four in two bedrooms. Both bedrooms are upstairs, one double and one twin. They have sloping ceilings and beams, and the double leads through from the twin. There's one bathroom. The rating is 4 Star. It means it's comfortable and well looked after.

The stairs are the main thing you should know about. They're steep and curved, and there's no handrail on the open side. If you're not steady on your feet, or have very small children, it might not be for you. The ceilings are low in places too.

Downstairs is open plan: living, dining, and kitchen area. There's an inglenook fireplace with an open fire. The kitchen has what you need. The garden is enclosed.

There's a village shop about 200 yards away. A couple of pubs serving food are within walking distance too. Both are decent.

The coast is about three miles. Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door are the closest bits. It's all part of the Jurassic Coast. For a walk, the National Trust has several spots nearby like Ringstead Bay and Corfe Castle. Kimmeridge Bay is good for rock pooling.

If you want a day out, Monkey World and the Tank Museum at Bovington are within 20 minutes. Dorchester is 8 miles, Weymouth 11. Poole and its harbour are about a 30 minute drive.

Facilities: there's parking, WiFi, a TV, a washing machine, and a dishwasher. Bedding and towels are included. We can provide a cot and highchair. One well-behaved dog is welcome.
