Badgers

Badgers is a shepherd's hut on our farm in Herstmonceux. It's for two people. It's detached, so it's just you out there.

It's a modern hut, so it has proper insulation, an electric wood burner, a small kitchen with a fridge and a hob, and a shower room. The bed is a double. There's a deck outside with a table and chairs.

You're on a working farm. We've got sheep, geese, ducks and chickens. There's a fenced pond about thirty yards from the hut. The drive up to it is hardcore, so your car should be fine. You park right next to it.

The stairs up into the hut are steep. Not like house stairs. Just something to be aware of.

You can bring one dog. The deck is enclosed, but the fields around aren't, so you'll need to keep it on a lead outside your space.

Herstmonceux Castle and its gardens are nearby. The Observatory Science Centre is there too, which is good if you've got an interest. For a day at the coast, Pevensey Bay beach is about a 20-minute drive. The National Trust has several places like Bodiam Castle and Bateman's within easy reach.

You can walk from the farm onto public footpaths. The 1066 Country Walk goes through the area. If you want to go further, you can drive to the South Downs or get a train from Polegate into London.

Facilities: there's wifi, a washing machine, a dishwasher, and parking. All bedding and towels are included.

Badgers is one of a few places we have here. If you need space for more people, it can be booked together with Chilsham Barn and Moorhens.
