The Anchorage is a big Georgian house in the middle of Pembroke. It sleeps fourteen, so it’s good for a large family or a group of friends. There are seven bedrooms and, usefully, seven bathrooms. Most of them are en-suite.
The house is on four floors. The stairs are the original ones, so they’re quite wide but also quite steep in parts. Something to be aware of if you have anyone less steady on their feet.
Downstairs there’s a big kitchen and dining area with an island. It has two dishwashers and two fridges, which you’ll probably need with that many people. Off the kitchen is a cinema room, which is popular with kids. Outside in the garden there’s a hot tub.
Also outside is ‘The Wash House’, which is where the washing machine and tumble dryer are kept. It also has a wet room with a shower, which is handy for coming in from the beach or walks. There’s a rack for a few bikes.
You’re right in the town, so everything is close. Pembroke Castle is about a ten minute walk. The train station is five minutes away. There are pubs, shops, and cafes nearby.
For the beach, you’ll need to drive. Some good ones are about four miles away. Tenby is a short drive, maybe fifteen to twenty minutes. It’s a nice historic seaside town with a harbour and boat trips.
If you’re here for walking, the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park is right on the doorstep. The Coastal Path is spectacular. For a change, the Preseli Hills inland are interesting for history and views.
Within about half an hour’s drive you’ve got places like Folly Farm, Heatherton, and Oakwood theme park if you need a day out with children.
The house has a 5 Star rating. It’s well equipped. Bedding and towels are included. There’s a cot and highchair. You can bring up to two dogs. We include the electricity and there’s WiFi.
