Old Stable Cottage is in Carew, just outside the village and across the field from Carew Castle. It's a conversion from part of the old castle stables. We've owned it as a family for a long time.
It sleeps six, with three bedrooms. They all have their own en-suite shower room, which is handy. There's a washing machine, a dishwasher, and a log burner. The garden is enclosed, which is good for children and dogs. You can bring one dog.
Inside, the floors upstairs are old and a bit uneven in places. The stairs are a spiral staircase, which is quite narrow and steep. You'll need to be careful on them. The main living area has low beams too.
There's a games room with table tennis. The kitchen has a big wooden table and a slate-topped island. It's a proper country kitchen, not a sleek modern one.
It's quiet here. You look out over fields towards the castle. It's a five-minute walk to the riverbank and the castle itself. The Carew Castle and Tidal Mill site is run by the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority.
A local pub, the Carew Inn, is a 15-minute walk away along the road. They do food. For a bigger shop, you'll need to drive to either Narberth or Tenby, which are both about a 15-minute drive. Tenby's a classic seaside town with beaches and a harbour.
The Pembrokeshire Coast Path is easily accessible. Manorbier and its castle are about 20 minutes south by car. Further west, you've got Stackpole and Barafundle Bay, which are some of the best beaches. They're about half an hour's drive.
If you're planning walks or days out, the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park website is useful, as is the Visit Wales South West page.
We provide all bedding and towels. There's parking for two cars on the gravel drive.
