Blue Downs View is a three-bedroomed, semi-detached holiday home situated just a 2 minute walk to the beach. The renowned fishery at the marina sells the daily catch of fresh fish and seafood; boat trips are also available from here. A short walk down to Wheelers Bay will lead you to the Esplanade with several great restaurants, or if you fancy a take-away to enjoy by the beach, there are fantastic fish and chips.
Ventnor Botanical Garden lies in the remarkable microclimate at the heart of the famous ‘Undercliff’. This unique garden is protected from the cold northerly winds by chalk downs. In addition to enjoying the lovely gardens, it also hosts events and exhibitions and there is a restaurant and café on-site for refreshments, lunch or coffee and cake. From The Esplanade you can take a level walk along the sea wall to Bonchurch, or walk along the cliff path towards Steephill Cove, a beautiful, sheltered bay only accessed by foot.
In July, Ventnor is the home to the Fringe Festival, a unique celebration of the arts, showcasing emerging and established talent across every creative discipline. There is no need for a car in Ventnor since buses run regularly to all the corners of the island, so if you are looking to taking the kids to famous Blackgang Chine it is easily done. Further up from Blackgang Chine, you will find The Needles, one of the island’s most iconic sights. Beach ½ mile.
