Orchard Cottage is in Thorney, in Somerset. It's one of these old farm worker's cottages on a lane, part of a small group. The rating is 4 Star, so it's comfortable and well looked after. It sleeps two people, just the one bedroom and one bathroom. Good for a couple. We take two dogs.
The main thing is it's quiet. It's down a track, surrounded by fields. You get the garden to yourself, it's enclosed. There's parking right outside.
Inside, it's open plan downstairs. Living area, kitchen, dining table all in one room. It's got a wood burner, which is nice in the winter. The stairs go up from there. They're cottage stairs, so they turn a corner and are a bit steep. The bedroom's up there with the shower room.
It's got WiFi and a TV. There's a dishwasher, washing machine, that sort of thing. Bedding and towels are included. We can provide a cot and a highchair if you need them.
Thorney itself is just a hamlet, so there's no shop. The nearest pub is in Keinton Mandeville, about a mile and a half away. It does food. For a supermarket, you'd go to Somerton or Street, about a 10 minute drive.
If you like walking, you can go straight out from the door. The Levels are all around. Glastonbury Tor is about 15 minutes by car. Wells Cathedral is maybe 20 minutes. The coast at Burnham-on-Sea is half an hour. For a full day out, you could drive into the Mendip Hills or up to Cheddar Gorge.
