Kingfisher is one of four lodges at Viaduct Fisheries in Somerton. It's a detached, single-storey cabin, so all the rooms are on the ground floor. It's right by one of the lakes. The patio looks straight out over the water.
It sleeps six people in three bedrooms. There are two shower rooms. It's got a 4 Star rating. Everything is clean and works properly. The layout is open plan, so the kitchen, living area and dining space are all together.
Facilities wise: it has a dishwasher, a washing machine, good wifi, and there's parking right outside. Bedding and towels are included. The entrance is step-free and the showers are walk-in. Because it's all on one level, it works for people who find stairs difficult.
The main thing is the fishing. Your stay includes free fishing on the lakes. It's a proper fishery, so it's geared towards anglers. If you've never tried it, the tackle shop on site can sort you out with gear and advice.
Somerton is a small town. There's a shop and a couple of pubs about a 15 minute walk away. For a bigger supermarket or the Clarks Village outlet shops, Street is a 10 minute drive.
Glastonbury is about 20 minutes away by car. The Tor is a good walk, the views from the top are extensive. The Somerset Levels are all around here for cycling or walking. The coast at Burnham-on-Sea is about 45 minutes.
