The Retreat At Deer Park Farm
The Retreat is a wooden log cabin on our farm, down a track in the woods. It's completely detached and private. The main cabin has the living space, kitchen, and one bedroom with its own bathroom. About twenty yards away, there's a second, smaller cabin with the other two bedrooms. They both have their own bathrooms too. So, six people, but everyone gets their own space and their own shower.
It's a 4 Star place. That means it's comfortable and well-equipped, but it's a cabin in the woods, not a hotel. The water is from our own borehole, so it sometimes has a slight earthy taste. We provide drinking water in the kitchen.
You have a large, enclosed garden. There's a hot tub, a barbecue, and plenty of parking right outside. We allow one dog. The woods are ours, so you're welcome to walk through them. It's very quiet. You'll see deer, birds, that sort of thing.
For supplies, the nearest shop is about three miles away in Castle Cary. The village pub in Babcary is a mile and a half walk down the lane. They do food.
In terms of things to do, you're well placed. The Fleet Air Arm Museum at Yeovilton is about fifteen minutes by car. Wells Cathedral and the Bishop's Palace are about half an hour. Glastonbury Tor is a similar drive. Cheddar Gorge is maybe forty minutes. If you want to go further, Bath or the Dorset coast are within an hour.
What's here: proper Wi-Fi, a TV, dishwasher, washing machine, all bedding and towels. There's a cot if you need it. All the utilities are included.
