The Wagon Lodge is a new-build cottage on our working farm. It's near Rye Foreign. From the front, you look out over sheep fields and an apple orchard. You're welcome to walk around the farm lanes.
It sleeps eight. Four bedrooms, each with its own bathroom. That's good if you've got a few couples staying. The whole place is on one level, no stairs, and it's designed for wheelchair access. The bathrooms are wet rooms.
Inside, it's open plan. Kitchen, dining, living area all together. There's a wood burner for cooler nights. You've got the basics: dishwasher, washing machine, TV, WiFi. Bedding and towels are included. You can bring up to two dogs.
The farm is about 200 acres. Sheep and fruit. In spring you can see the lambs in the orchard. There are public footpaths leading off the land if you want a longer walk.
Rye is about three miles away. It's an old town, cobbled streets, some decent pubs and cafes. Rye Harbour Nature Reserve is good for a flat walk. Rye Harbour Nature Reserve.
The coast is close. Winchelsea beach is about three miles, Camber Sands is six. Camber has those big dunes and sandy beach. National Trust Camber Sands.
Lots to do within half an hour. Bodiam Castle, Sissinghurst Castle Gardens, Great Dixter. Battle Abbey. If you like gardens, you're sorted. English Heritage and National Trust Southeast have the details for most of them.
Practical stuff: parking right outside. Shop and the nearest pub are in Peasmarsh, about two miles. We're on the farm, so it's quiet. You might hear sheep.
