The Quarter House is in Rye, about halfway up the main hill on the cobbled street. You walk straight into the front door off the pavement. The place itself sleeps four, in two bedrooms. There's one bathroom. It's a 4 Star, so it's got everything you need and is well looked after, without being a show home.
The entrance hall is small. You go straight up a flight of stairs from there. They're normal cottage stairs, so steeper than a modern house.
The place is open plan downstairs. There's a woodburning stove for cooler evenings. Facilities are all there: washing machine, wifi, TV, towels and bedding included. We can provide a cot and a stairgate if you need them. One well-behaved dog is allowed.
Rye’s the main thing here. It’s a Medieval town, so the streets are narrow and cobbled. You’re right in the middle of it. There are pubs, cafes, and antique shops a minute's walk away. For a good view, St. Mary’s Church tower looks over the town and marshes.
The coast is close. Camber Sands is about four miles away, which is a proper sandy beach. Rye Harbour Nature Reserve is good for birdwatching and flat walks. It’s about a ten minute drive.
If you want to go further out, you can visit Great Dixter house and gardens, or Sissinghurst Castle Garden. Both are within half an hour’s drive. Hastings and its old town is about twenty minutes away.
