Appletree Cottage is on the edge of Peasmarsh, between Rye and Northiam. It's a Grade II listed place, built around 1760. You go in through a stable door straight into the kitchen.
It sleeps four, with two double bedrooms upstairs. The stairs are the old cottage kind, so they're narrow and a bit steep. The bathroom is on the ground floor. It's got a shower over the bath. There's one toilet.
The main room is a combined lounge and dining area with a big inglenook fireplace. You can have an open fire. It's beamed. The garden is sizeable and enclosed, with a patio area right outside the kitchen door.
It's got a 3 Star rating. That means it's comfortable and clean, not luxury. The facilities are straightforward: WiFi, TV, dishwasher, washing machine, parking on site. There's an electric vehicle charger. Bedding and towels are included. We can provide a cot. No pets, sorry.
There's a shop and a pub about half a mile walk away. Rye is three miles. It's a medieval town on a hill, full of old buildings. The coast is about eight miles, so you can get to the beach easily.
For days out, Bodiam Castle is about a twenty minute drive. It's a moated castle run by the National Trust. Great Dixter gardens are nearby too. The Kent and East Sussex Railway steam trains are at Tenterden, which is about eight and a half miles. For wider planning, Visit East Sussex has good information.
You can get a train from Rye to Ashford. From there, you can get the high speed service to London. Ashford International also has the Eurostar.
