Henry-Oscar House is on the edge of Winchelsea. It’s a detached wooden house we built a few years ago. It looks out across the Brede Levels, which is basically a flat, open landscape with sheep in the fields.
It sleeps eight people. There are four bedrooms and three bathrooms, so it works for a couple of families. One bathroom is a wet room on the ground floor. The main living area is open plan, with big bi-fold doors that open onto the terrace.
There’s a wood burner for the evenings. The stairs go up to a galleried landing, which leads out to a small balcony. The view from up there is good, especially at sunset. The terrace has a hot tub.
You’re a few hundred yards from a restaurant. The local pub and a shop are about a mile away. Camber Sands beach is a ten-minute drive.
If you like walking, you can get straight onto footpaths from the house. The Royal Military Canal path is close by for a flat walk. Rye Harbour Nature Reserve is great for birdwatching. Rye is three or four miles away, it’s an old town with cobbled streets. Battle Abbey is about twenty minutes by car. National Trust Sussex has a list of places if you want to explore further.
Facilities: there’s parking, WiFi, a washing machine, dishwasher, and a BBQ. Bedding and towels are included. We allow up to two dogs. There’s a highchair if you need one.
