Holly Cottage
Holly Cottage is in Pett, which is just inland from the coast between Hastings and Rye. It's detached and set back from the village road, so it's quiet. The main thing is the view over the fields from the back.
It sleeps nine, in four bedrooms. There are two bathrooms. It's got a 4 Star rating, so it's comfortable and well-equipped, but it's a family house, not a show home.
You've got a proper garden with a patio and a BBQ. Parking is on the drive. Inside, there's a dishwasher and a washing machine, WiFi, and a TV. Bedding and towels are included. We have a cot and a highchair if you need them.
In the village, there's a shop and post office right opposite. There's also a tea room and two pubs. The pubs do good food.
The local beach is about a mile away. It's shingle, good for rock pooling. For sand dunes and a bigger beach, Camber Sands is a short drive. Rye is about ten minutes away by car. It's an old town with cobbled streets, antiques shops and places to eat. Winchelsea is nearby too.
If you want to explore further, Hastings and its old town are about 20 minutes. Battle Abbey is about half an hour. For a day out on a steam railway, try the Kent & East Sussex Railway in Tenterden, which is also within half an hour.
There are plenty of National Trust places around here. Bodiam Castle is probably the closest.
