Mouse House
The Mouse House is in the Old Town part of Hastings. It's one of the little fisherman's cottages built in the 1840s. It's Grade II listed, so there are original features like beams and brickwork. It's about a minute and a half walk from the beach.
It sleeps four. Two bedrooms, one bathroom. It has a 4 Star rating. It's comfortable and clean. Because it's old, the stairs are steep. That's just how they are.
There's a pub practically next door, about 25 yards away. Plenty of shops and restaurants are a couple of minutes walk up the street.
Out the back there's a decked courtyard. It's west-facing, so you get the afternoon and evening sun. It's a nice spot to sit out. There's a barbecue there.
Inside, there's a woodburning stove for cooler evenings. It's open plan on the ground floor. We've put in a dishwasher and a washing machine. The bedding and towels are included. There's wifi and a TV.
You can bring one well-behaved dog.
For things to do, Hastings Castle is up on the cliff. You can walk up or take the funicular railway. The Hastings Country Park is up there too, with great coastal walks. In town, there's the fishing museum, the shipwreck museum, and the aquarium.
For a day out, Battle Abbey and the 1066 battlefield are about a twenty minute drive. Bodiam Castle is about half an hour away by car.
