Wellesley Retreat is a one bedroom flat on the second floor of a listed building in Hastings Old Town. It sleeps two. The building has a blue plaque because the Duke of Wellington's headquarters were here in 1806.
It's got a 5 Star rating. It's been done up nicely inside. There's antique furniture, and some of it is for sale. The flat is on the second floor and there's no lift, so the stairs aren't suitable for anyone with mobility issues. No children under 11.
You can see the sea from the living room and the bedroom. The bed is large and there's a roll-top bath in the bedroom corner. There's a modern kitchen with a dishwasher. No washing machine, but there's a laundrette a few doors down. We leave you a welcome basket with some local bits.
You're right in the Old Town. It's a few minutes' walk to the beach, the pubs and restaurants, and the shops. The funicular railway is close by if you want to go up to Hastings Castle. The pier and the town centre are walkable too. Hastings station has trains to London.
Close by there's the Hastings Contemporary gallery, the Fisherman's Museum, and the usual seafront things like fish and chips and arcades. If you drive, places like Rye, Eastbourne and Camber Sands are within about half an hour.
You can bring up to two dogs. No stag or hen parties. There's another flat in the same building if you need space for more people.
