Weavers Retreat is a wonderful, stone built, end terraced weaver’s cottage, which can be found in the West Yorkshire village of Golcar, on the outskirts of Huddersfield. Set in an elevated position, the property boasts wonderful long distance views over the surrounding Colne Valley, and for those who don’t mind a few inclines, Golcar village centre is just over a 5-minute walk away.
Beautifully furnished throughout, within the master bedroom you’ll find a free-standing bath, just perfect for soaking tired legs after a day exploring the surrounding countryside. In the warmer summer months you can really make the most of the far-reaching views by lighting up the BBQ on the terrace.
Golcar is set in the Colne Valley, together with neighbouring Marsden, Slaithwaite, Linthwaite and Milnsbridge. It is home to a good selection of local amenities, with the larger market town of Huddersfield being just 2 miles away. Slaithwaite, 10 minutes away, is home to the first established eco-spa in the country, and Marsden, 15 minutes away, plays host to a fabulous jazz festival each October, as well as being home to Stanedge Tunnel and Visitor Centre. Holmfirth, 20 minutes, recognised from ’Last of the Summer Wine’, is home to its own vineyard, and you are also on the edge of the Peak District National Park. For anyone wanting to venture further afield, an hour’s drive can take you to the historic walled city of York, Harrogate, Leeds or even Skipton, which is also regarded as the ’Gateway to the Dales’. There really is as much or as little to do as you like. Shop, pub and restaurant ¼ mile.
