Nestled in the grounds of the owner’s property but still very private, River View Lodge has everything needed for a great stay. Stylishly decorated and furnished by the owner, it is a light and airy space and enjoys two bathrooms, one with toilet, a full sized bath and shower combined, one with toilet and a shower cubicle. A wood burner is included and patio doors open out onto a terrace and the riverside garden from both the living room and the master bedroom. There is a private lawned garden around the property for visitors, with garden furniture and a barbeque. A gate leads you through to the main riverside garden, extending to one and a half acres .
In under five minutes you can walk to the bustling market town of Wymondham, where it is possible to dine somewhere new every night. A short walk away is one of the oldest pubs in
Norfolk, the Green Dragon, believed to have been serving fine ales since the 14th century. In Wymondham, you’ll find a good mix of independent and high street shops alongside great places to eat, drink and relax in. Wymondham also boasts a famous abbey that is well worth a visit as well as its own nearby little Heritage Museum. The main Wymondham railway station is just under ten minutes walk away with a short cut through Toll’s Meadow, while a nearby riverside path takes you to the Wymondham Abbey station. From here, on the Mid Norfolk Railway Line, from February through to the end of October, you can ride on a steam train through unspoiled countryside to Dereham and back. Just under 7 miles away is the popular Barnham Broom Golf Course.
History lovers should also find time to visit the Blickling, Holkham and Sandringham estates, which lie a little further afield but are well worth making the trip to. Closer by, lies the city of Norwich with its award winning market, splendid Norman castle, numerous galleries, theatres and museums and a host of other attractions. In just over 40 minutes, you can be at the gateway to the North Norfolk Coast. Visit Cromer for a stroll on the Edwardian sea front or a walk along the pier, or visit Sheringham, popular with holidaymakers and locals alike and home
to Sheringham Park and the North Norfolk Railway, also known as the ‘Poppy Line’. You can also head East and experience the golden mile at Great Yarmouth where you will also find all the fun of the fair. A 30-minute drive will see you at the gateway to the Norfolk Broads, Wroxham, where you can join a chartered trip or hire your own day launch to drift along the famous waterways. Closer still lies award winning Banham Zoo; a great day out for young and older alike. In under half an hour, you can be in the heart of Thetford Forest with its nature trails, High Walk and Go Ape. All this is, of course, if you can tear yourself away from the lovely riverside garden and cosy wood burner, both of which make gorgeous River View Lodge a great year round destination.
