This is Noddfa, in Harlech. It's a big, old detached house up on the hill, between the castle and the golf course. It sleeps a lot of people. Twenty people in eight bedrooms, to be exact. That’s the main thing about it.
Every bedroom has its own bathroom, which helps when you're that many. There's a huge dining table that seats everyone together and a separate cinema room downstairs for films or if the kids want their own space. The kitchen is big, with a proper farmhouse table in it.
It's a four-star place, so it's comfortable and well-fitted. It's not a modern new-build, it's Victorian. So the ceilings are high, the windows are big, and the stairs are normal house stairs. There's a woodburner in the main drawing room.
The location is the real point. You look out one side at the golf course and the sea. Look the other way and you're staring at Harlech Castle. It’s about a five-minute walk down the hill into the town. There’s a pub just down the road. The beach is fantastic, a huge stretch of sand, and it’s about a fifteen-minute walk.
If you want to go out, Portmeirion is about twenty minutes by car. The Ffestiniog Railway and Snowdonia are within half an hour. The National Trust page for Harlech Castle has all the visiting information.
Outside, there's a decent sized garden that wraps around the house and plenty of parking on the gravel drive. We can take one well-behaved dog. All bedding and towels are included. There's wifi, a washing machine, dishwasher, a cot and a highchair if you need them.
