Wood Cottage
Wood Cottage is on the Stackpole Estate in south Pembrokeshire. It's a three-bedroom place, sleeps six. Three of us can get a bit territorial about the sofas but there's space.
It's an old Head Gardener's cottage, so the garden is big, about three quarters of an acre. There's a stream at the bottom. You get a lot of birds. The patio is a good spot for a coffee in the morning.
Inside, it's got an open fire and a kitchen diner that feels quite light. It's been done up to a decent standard. Two bathrooms, which helps with six people. The stairs are ordinary, not a spiral or anything.
The location is the main thing. You can walk to Barafundle Bay in about fifteen minutes through the estate woods. It's a very good beach. The path to it also goes past the Bosherston Lily Ponds, which are worth a look.
You're right on the Pembrokeshire Coast Path here. A short drive gets you to places like Freshwater East or Broad Haven. For supplies, Pembroke is about ten minutes by car. There's a pub in the village, the Stackpole Inn, which is walkable.
The facilities are all there: wifi, TV, washing machine, dishwasher. There's parking for a couple of cars. You can bring two dogs. We leave a cot and a highchair in the cupboard under the stairs.
