Causeway Cottage is in Wolsingham, County Durham. It's an old building, one of the oldest here. It used to be a pub called The Packhorse Inn. There's a story that Charles II once rode his horse up the internal staircase. The stairs are still there, and they're quite steep.
It sleeps four. Two bedrooms and one bathroom. The bathroom is downstairs. It has a 4 Star rating. One bedroom has a kingsize bed and a window seat. The other is a standard double.
Downstairs is open plan: living room, dining area, kitchen. There's a wood burner in a big old fireplace. The kitchen looks out onto a small, enclosed garden courtyard. There's a hot tub out there.
Facilities include a dishwasher, wifi, TV, and parking on site. Bedding and towels are included. We allow one well-behaved dog.
Wolsingham is a small market town. There's a local pub and shops within walking distance. Hamsterley Forest is about five minutes’ drive away for walking or cycling. For a longer day out, Bishop Auckland Castle and the Bowes Museum are within half an hour. The Durham Dales are right on the doorstep.
