This is Railway Cottage in Stanhope. It's a two-up two-down terrace, one of a row of old railway workers' cottages. You can see the station platform from the upstairs back window.
It sleeps four, in two bedrooms. One has a kingsize bed and looks out over the fields. The other has twins and you can see the little steam trains of the Weardale Railway going by. There's one bathroom upstairs.
Downstairs is a living room with a wood burner. It's not huge, but it's fine for four. The kitchen is next to it, with a door out to a small patio garden. It gets the sun in the evening. We've put in a dishwasher and a washing machine.
The town centre is about a five minute walk. There's a couple of pubs, a good bakery, a butchers, and a small Co-op for basics. The Durham Dales Centre is there too if you need walking maps or local information.
For getting out, you're right in the North Pennines. There are walks straight from the door along the river or up onto the moors. Cyclists use this area for the C2C route, and Hamsterley Forest is about a 20 minute drive for mountain biking trails.
If you want to drive out for the day, High Force waterfall is about 25 minutes away. Barnard Castle town is about half an hour. Durham city is around 40 minutes. Beamish Museum is roughly 45 minutes.
You can bring up to two dogs. There's a stairgate, highchair and cot here if you need them. Bedding and towels are included. Parking is on the street outside the cottage.
