The Captains House
The Captain's House is in Pendeen, right on the edge of the peninsula. It sleeps eight, with four bedrooms and two bathrooms. It's got a 5 Star rating.
The house is detached. There's a wooden gate at the end of the garden that leads straight onto the South West Coast Path. You can see the sea from the back windows.
The stairs are normal house stairs, not the steep cottage kind. There's a conservatory and a wood-fired hot tub in the garden. You have to light it and fill it yourselves, but the instructions are there. It's emptied and cleaned before you arrive.
Inside, it's comfortable rather than grand. The kitchen has a dishwasher. There's a washing machine too. Bedding and towels are included. There's on-site parking and bike storage.
You can bring two dogs. There's an outdoor shower with a dog hairdryer next to it.
The local beach is Portheras Cove, about half a mile away. St Just is the nearest town, about two miles, for shops and pubs.
For days out, the old tin mines are all around. National Trust Cornwall has details on lots of them. Geevor Tin Mine is very close. The Minack Theatre at Porthcurno and Lands End are both within about a thirty minute drive.
