Keepers Cottage
Keepers Cottage is in Glencaple. It's part of an old farmhouse next to our house. You get a small garden to yourself which is enclosed, so it's good for kids.
The cottage sleeps three. Two bedrooms, they're small but fine. Two bathrooms, which is handy. One's a shower room downstairs. It's a 3 Star place. That means it's clean and comfy but don't expect luxury. The stairs are a bit steep and narrow.
The main thing is the wood burner. It heats the whole place perfectly. The kitchen has a dishwasher and washing machine. There's WiFi and parking right outside.
Location wise, it's rural. Quiet lanes for walking from the door. Mabie Forest is about a mile away. That's where the mountain bike trails are, including some of the 7Stanes routes. Good for a walk too.
About ten miles to the coast at Southerness. It's a sandy beach. The Solway coast from there to Rockcliffe and Kippford is nice for a drive and a stroll, very gentle.
For other days out, Caerlaverock Castle is nearby, also Drumlanrig. Threave Garden is run by the National Trust, about half an hour's drive. If you're into golf, there are a few courses within twenty minutes.
No pets, sorry. Bedding and towels are included.
