Keepers Cottage is in Glencaple, near Dumfries. It’s attached to our house on a small farm, so we’re next door if you need anything. It looks out over fields.
It sleeps three. Two bedrooms upstairs and a family bathroom. There's also a shower room downstairs, which is handy. It's a 3 Star place, so it’s comfortable and clean. Nothing too fancy.
There's a wood burner in the living room. We leave you some logs to get started. The kitchen has what you need, and the dining room leads out to an enclosed garden. You can bring one dog. The garden is secure.
You’re right in the countryside here. For walking, you can just head out onto the quiet lanes. Mabie Forest is about a mile and a half away. They've got good walking trails and the 7Stanes mountain biking. There’s stuff there for beginners and experts.
Dumfries is about ten minutes by car for shops and things. The coast at Southerness is roughly a twenty-five minute drive. Caerlaverock Castle is close by, maybe fifteen minutes. It's a National Trust site and worth a visit.
For a day out, Threave Garden is managed by the National Trust for Scotland and is about half an hour away. The Solway Coast is good for a drive and a walk. The Kirkconnell Flow nature reserve is nearby if you’re interested in the bog habitat.
Facilities: there's a washing machine, dishwasher, TV, and WiFi. Bedding and towels are included. Parking is right outside. There's bicycle storage if you bring bikes.
